Subaru Unveils Yet Another New Conceptual Design

Thursday, 14 November, 2013

2015 Subaru Legacy Concept Release Date

2015-subaru-legacy-conceptSubaru announced today that the official 2015 Subaru Legacy Concept release date has been scheduled. The new conceptual design for the sedan will be unveiled at the upcoming LA Auto Show next week. This is pretty big news for all of the Subaru lovers out there; as the Legacy Concept is one of two Subaru cars that will be displayed at the auto show. It will join the production model of the 2015 Subaru WRX, which is already gaining a lot of popularity.

If you don’t feel like waiting until next week to catch a glimpse of the 2015 Subaru Legacy Concept there is some good news—you don’t have to. Along with the announcement of the LA Auto Show release, Subaru attached some pictures of the conceptual design, and we have to say that we like what we see.

The concept plays with lines in such a way that from some angles, the back doors seem to completely disappear. It gives the Legacy coupe-like sleekness and sophistication, yet it still carries the convenience of a four-door sedan. The downside of the coupe-like design is that the roof slopes steeply to the rear of the car, making the trunk space seem a bit cramped. However, this is just a concept model so our concerns aren’t too high right now.

What really makes the 2015 Subaru Legacy Concept stand out is its beefy, athletic look. Compared to other models out there, including the current Legacy, the concept car appears much larger. Perhaps that’s why it’s able to fit well-filling 21-inch wheels. The arches hint at the symmetrical all-wheel drive system that come standard in all Subaru models but the BR-Z.

As we said, this model is just a conceptual design. Subaru will likely take some a few aspects from the sedan and stick them on the new model, but if they plan to give the Legacy the superior fuel efficiency found in Subaru models, we expect this design to shed a couple of pounds for the production model. We do like the direction that Subaru is going with this one, however.
